This is the finished map of Jelling. Some stats: 1179 miles from southern most tip to northern and a total area of 447,119 square miles. Lake Surma area covers 58,489 square miles making it a pretty big lake when compaired to the surface area of Lake Superior in North America which is about 31,700 square miles. The distance from Portheadland to Bryce is 232 miles; Bryce to Yatton is 134 miles. If you wish to travel from Shent to Portheadland by land, the trip would be 437 miles. You could also travel the first 71 miles via the Strawberry road and then take a ferry from Yatton for the remaining 359miles. I built the scale for the map from a drawing I made of the whole world. I matched the circumference of the earth to my map about 24,901miles. I used a free image analysis program called ImageJ to measure parts of my image. Once I had the calibration I just drew lines and measured (ctrl-M) ImageJ did the pixel to miles conversion for me. So making a trip from Portheadland to Northpoint by land you would travel close to 877 miles. Over the next month I will build up encounter tables for the island and a static page based off of these posts under the Settlements link off of the home page for my website.
