CSI Alidor

Ok, I pretty much completed the laws for all the civilized areas of Alidor. I have not completed the laws for the tortoise cities, but they are very close to the laws of Kirkland, and Jelling, because some tortoise cities have slavery, while all have coliseums. I will work on those next. The empire of Talou is all elfin territory, and their laws are very similar to Melbrindar Keep. In a lot of fantasy games the elves are going some place, not here, not in Alidor. The Talou Forest in particular is like Nirvana to the elves; it is Eden, and they are not going to give anyone a chance to take that away. Elves of Talou are secretive and their laws are too; players who adventure in the Talou forest are on their own, if they dare step foot on the other side of the great wall stone trees that marks the elfin territory.
As for players, as they adventure in the world, they should be aware that their actions can generate unfavorable reactions from the non player characters, but remember this is not CSI; the NPCs are limited in their capability to find the culprit of murder as determined by the gold piece limit of the closest settlement and the nearest Community Authority. In big cities there is a 20% chance that the law will catch up with the players in the first 48hour period after a crime is committed, even then there is a slight chance that the authorities can be payed off or convinced that they have the wrong guy. In small towns it may be easier to point out the strangers as the “ones who did it” but they may not have the resources to deal with player characters; a first level sheriff may find himself out gunned by the 10th level characters and may just ask the player to leave town or ask for aide from bounty hunters. If the community authority askes for help it will take 1d8 weeks for help to arrive and by then the party may be gone.
The laws of Alidor are there to make players aware that they can potentially get in trouble if they get out of hand with NPCs, but unless they commit a crime right in front of the local law enforcement they should be able to get away. If they get caught, there are plenty of role play options to use to shorten their sentence.
