Village of Brendon Mill

Complete Map of Jelling Central Jelling with Yatton Focus Brendon Mill

Brendon Mill is midway between Yatton and Four Wells on Myrtle road, Originally part of the vast Yates estate it was sold off to Philip Brendon shortly after the abolition of slavery in Jelling. (1507) Phillip Brendon was a Coptins Slave purchased by the Yates family from the Kenkle firm in the city of Alidor, he was to run the mill and its Utram slaves for the family. After sickness took over the family leadership, junior members of the Yates estate started selling off land to pay off debts incurred during the rough times shortly after the loss of its slave holdings. Phillip, once freed of his slave duties at the mill, had come across some wealth adventuring in a small cave just bellow the hilly ridge south west of the mill; he used this money to purchase the mill away from the Yates family. He also hired back his old staff and started a trade school in milling an smithing which remains to this day. The mill is still owned by the descendants of Phillip Brendon.

When the Kirks attempted to invade Jelling in 1665 and were held off by the Galleywein Rangers under leadership of Lord Clemsen Johnurn. The rangers held off the advance of the Kirks long enough for the queens heavy cavalry and heavy infantry to arrive, and take up positions, and then eventually push the Kirks back to Four Wells, and then later crush them at the battle of Four Wells.
