What to do Between Games at a Con

Hmm… What else, but play more games. I think the best part about gaming conventions is wandering around talking with other gamers, and checking out what the latest “fast game” to play is. Please understand that the games I saw at Winter War may not have been the latest and the greatest, but they were what people were playing.

This year I came across No Thanks by Z-man Games and another was Race for the Galaxy by Rio Grande Games. The people playing these really enjoyed them while waiting for the next game session to start. I had never heard of those two, but they looked fun so I added them to my wish list. I also saw people playing Munchkin by Steve Jackson Games which is one of my favorites. “No thanks” was the fastest game by far taking 10-15 minutes from start to stop.

I did get a chuckle when one player’s PC got paralyzed a table, and he almost instantly took out his Nintendo DS and “gamed on” playing some flavor of Final Fantasy with earphones and all until he was freed by the party. Gamers…
