I said I would run adapted RPGA modules for some locals who decided to not let go of 3.5 Living Greyhawk. Well, this Tuesday, they dropped off my next module, a hard bound book called the Demon Web Pits. Man, a book, they gave me a book, and said run it. I’ll be busy every other Tuesday through to October. Oh the pain. Months of gaming and I can not use any own material from Alidor. Ulcers starting… Oh the pain.
Actually I am having fun; in return for the torture of not being able to run my material. I get to play every other Tuesday when I am not running. I did try to gather a new local group for a 4e version of Alidor, but it never took off, nobody wanted to invest in the new books. No worries, I still run my 4e Alidor stuff, I just have to drive 4 hours north, once a month to Wisconsin to do it. Some of my old players want me to run via email, but I don’t like that option.
I just got a chuckle when they dropped off a 200 plus page book. Honestly, it does not matter if it is my home game, or some store bought module, in the end it is still me behind the screen, and that is where I have the most fun, telling the story and running the monsters. I suppose I got myself into a pretty good deal, not the best deal, but a good enough one.
