Tips for a 3.5e Favored Soul

I am playing a favored soul, slash marshal, gestalt character in a 3.5 game and I asked the guy who almost always plays clerics what spells really work the best for a favored soul? A couple days later he emailed me with this answer:
I seem to remember you asking me about some spells for a favored soul. Assuming the favored soul spell list is the same as a clerics, here are some spells to consider:
All conjuration healing spells (eg. CLW, etc.)
1) Lesser Vigor(SC), Resurgence(SC)
Comprehend Language, Endure elements, Protection from … (although Norm has nerfed this), Shield of Faith. –Norm is the DM.2) Close Wounds(SC), but I don’t think it’s open access
Delay Poison, Remove Paralysis, Resist Energy, Lesser Restoration, Silence. Shield Other could be good if your PC had a lot of hit points and never got hit. Silence isn’t used much, but can be effective in shutting down casters. Spiritual Weapon could be useful, but with a limited number of known spells, others might be better choices.3) Mass conviction(SC), Vigor(SC), Mass Lesser Vigor(SC) Daylight (very situational), Dispel Magic, Invisibility Purge, Magic Vestment, Prayer, Protection from Energy, Remove xxx, Searing Light.
Here’s a first pass at a spell list:
1) CLW, Lesser Vigor, Resurgence, Shield of Faith, Protection from Evil
2) CMW, Resist Energy, Silence or Lesser Restoration, Delay Poison, Remove Paralysis
3) CSW, Mass Conviction, Invisibility Purge, (Protection from Energy, Dispel Magic, Mass Lesser Vigor)
Notes:
(SC) – Spell Compendium
I haven’t checked to see if all of these are open access.
Remember that favored souls have a limited ability to replace spells.
Spells like Endure Elements, Lesser Restoration and the Removespells can be handled by scrolls.
He does not think I should have lesser restoration as a known spell, but I seem to recall in previous games that he was irritated as the party cleric, because my PC did not have that scroll and it was costing him money to use it because I forgot to buy one between games. So I am keeping it on my spells known list. HAH!
The interesting thing to me is that there are hundreds of cleric spells, but when it comes down to really playing the 3.5e game, the spells he listed above are all you really need at least up to 3rd level.
“Open Access” is an RPGA thing, basically, if the spell (in this case) or feat is real cool, most likely it is not open for play.
