I am not making much progress playing 4e so I decided to DM more. It appears the only way I can play the game locally is to be the DM. I volunteered to run a low level game with the local group, but after a series of emails I was slated to run two mid level games levels 7-10. I have mention in the past I like DMing 4e more than playing it, so this option is fine. From experience, usually by 7-10 in 4e, the players are very comfortable with the rules and as the DM, I find myself just telling the story and nodding and smiling through the combats. The players do all the work in this version of the game.

As for playing I have two RPGA PCs both are level 2 and no home game PCs. No one I know in the local gamer community actually plays 4e outside the RPGA group. A group did start 4e Eberon and couple other groups started Pathfinder but those games are full and from what I heard had waiting lists, at least the Pathfinder games had waiting lists. I still play 3.5 so I do get my gaming fix on Tuesdays. My old group up in WI does not want to play or run 4e, so I am not making much progress playing the game. I bought most the books which probably makes marketing at WotC happy, but I have no one to play with, which makes me sad… Not really. I can always stack dice.

If anyone hasn’t seen the Pathfinder rules yet you can check them out at http://www.d20pfsrd.com/. That’s an unofficial fan-built and maintained SRD that includes things the “official” PRD does not, like monsters. Come on by and check it out, I’d love to hear peoples thoughts!
