Gargoyles and Spiders Pathfinder Bestiary is all that and more

I tried and I tried, but I was unable to get a hard cover copy of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary. Yeah I suppose I could have ordered it in advance but I was not in Pathfinder mode until last month. My local game shop guy, Dave said he had a pre-order list but I hesitated and missed out. I wandered around to other stores, but no one had it this week.

Greentiger, the other guy writing here, got his book and I did not want to be left out of the loop, so I decided to buy direct from Paizo and get the PDF version, so for $9.99 I was able to get the 49.6MB Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary pdf nearly right away. I was pleasantly surprised how fast I got the electronic version of the book. The pdf gets personalized on their website by putting a number and your email on every page in the header and the footer.
What I like about the pdf is that they thought to link the index to the monster so if I want stats on a giant leech I can open the pdf and go to index page and click on giant leech and bang I’m there on page 187 reading about the giant leech and thinking maybe a leech swarm may do better… I should note on the first page of the index, at least in my version, the links for Aasimar through to Black Dragon did not work all (Acrobat 8 Pro v8.1.7 & MacOS 10.5.8). This is still far better than googling and dragging down some illegal version that is no better than a xerox copy. I hate random pdfs from the net. So thanks guys at Paizo for making this rule book useful to me. Another cool thing about the electronic copy, the pdf is searchable so I can type in Chuul and hit search in Acrobat and I am on the Chuul page planning my next encounter.
The art in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary cool and pretty much every icon from 3.5 is there and, get this, They put in all the standard chromatic and metallic dragons back in one book. Thank you again, Paizo. You don’t know how frustrated I was when 4e came out and there just some chromatic dragons in the 4e Monster Manual. When I mentioned that to another 4e gamer and he said the metallic dragons will be in the next monster manual and he actually appeared OK with that.

Greentiger mentioned he’d write more about Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary so I will not go much further. I have to say, I am just darn happy with the PDF and had to blog about it quick. So from gargoyles to spiders the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary has it all and the pdf of the book is actually a very useful tool for any GM building a dungeon or running a module. I hope to get my hard copy from the local game store next week, at least for now with the Bestiary pdf in hand, I can follow the tide of conversations rolling into my inbox and at my game table.
