Winter War at the end of the Month

It is January 2010 and that means Winter War 37 is soon approaching. I received my final schedule for my Pathfinder games I will be running. This is my first time running just for fun home style games at a convention, normally I run games for the RPGA. I thought I would test the waters outside organized play taking advantage of all the chaos in the RPG world where players are finding the Dungeons and Dragons in its present 4e incarnation is no longer the game they grew up with. I was told by people organizing WW-37 that this year has one of the most diverse venues of RPG games ever for the con.

Here are all the RPG rules represented at Winter War this year:

Custom rules by bySwarm RPG http://byswarm.com/

Operation: S.A.N.T.A: Tom Turkey’s Terror Tunnel Home rules

Pathfinder rules

Pathfinder Society Organized play

D&D 4e rules LFR RPGA events

Paranoia rules

Call of Cthulhu 5th ed. rules

D&D 3.5 ed. with Gregghawk home rules

Call of Cthulhu 6th ed. rules

Deadlands Reloaded rules

Hollow Earth Expedition (Ubiquity) rules

Vampire: the Masquerade 3rd ed. rules

Dark Conspiracy rules

Elementary Watson rules

Cartoon Action Hour rules

Kobolds Ate My Baby rules

Desolation (Ubiquity) rules

D&D 3.5 ed. rules

Realms of Cthulhu rules

Call of Cthulhu rules

GURPS Space rules

AD&D 2nd ed. rules

Savage Worlds rules

D20 Modern (Apocalypse) rules

Call of Cthulhu seems to be the most popular outside LFR and Pathfinder Society. I have heard it is actually the best convention game system out there.

Of course I should plug my games one more time:

Friday Afternoon, 2:00 PM through 6:00 PM
The Wolf’s Tomb –Digging a new well in town of Kingleaf has lead to tragedy. An adventure set in the World of Alidor. Characters will be provided. Pathfinder RPG rules. Some gaming experience preferred. 6 players, Jon Ekman

Saturday Saturday Afternoon, 3:00 PM through 7:00 PM
Rathkip’s Stinking Den –Help a caravan master recover goods stolen on the frontier. An adventure set in the World of Alidor. Characters will be provided. Pathfinder RPG rules. Some experience with specific game assumed. 6 players, Jon Ekman

Saturday Evening, 8:00 PM through 12:00 AM
The Lair of Inescapable Doom –In the Village of Ingersol, no one approaches the old Willerson manor. Stories of ghosts and evil spirits within the home keep the locals fearful and on edge. On his deathbed, old man Willerson willed the estate to the church of Yol. Now the church needs help claiming their inheritance. An adventure set in the World of Alidor. Characters will be provided. Pathfinder RPG rules. Some experience with specific game assumed. 6 players, Jon Ekman

When not GMing my games, I hope to get test the waters of Pathfinder Society Organized play as a player. Also there are a couple D&D 3.5 ed. with Gregghawk rules games which are continuation of the old Living Greyhawk stuff.

I’d like to add that Mechwarrior will also be represented – I’m running a Battletech/Mechwarrior combined game (they put it under Miniatures). The Mechwarrior rules are a “microlite”-ish distillation I wrote.

Cool. I did not realize you are in range of the con. Maybe I’ll see you there.
