Word of the week is Necropolis.
Since it is October I wanted to keep with a Halloween theme. As you can imagine there are plenty of words that would give a shiver down your spine. I chose necropolis because it sounds like “metropolis” (a big city) and it is in fact a “big city of the dead”. And what can be scarier than that!?! Necropolis is a large cemetery, usually a large ancient cemetery. A Necropolis is probably the last place you’d want to go adventuring… in the middle of the night… on a holiday of the dead… especially on a full moon.

Agreed, Necropolis is a wonderful word and, as a location, they can be a wonderful place to set part (or all) of an adventure.
It can also be a good place to have a murder/mystery for a TV show. Last night, just after posting the word of the week, I was watching “Castle”. The show started with an extra body found in a casket during a Jewish funeral. Then Castle and the Rabbi were walking through a large mausoleum; my husband turns to me and says “They are in a Necropolis!”. I thought for awhile and sure enough… it’s a large place filled with lots of dead people!
