Small Cons Coming Up in Illinois, Missouri and Florida

I know a lot of folks are going to Gen Con, this August 4-7th, but I am not. I prefer small cons. I have a list of small ones coming up in Illinois, Missouri and FLorida. We may try to hit the small ones here in Florida this year, I just don’t know which ones yet. I just listed my favorites from Illinois, and Missouri that I will miss. I never actually went to Brewfest, but I hear it is a blast and it takes place where beer is made, the Buckner Brewing Company, most of the people I gamed with in Illinois had gone to it a told tall tales of their adventures there.

Hurricon 2011 Sept 22-25, 2011 International Palms Resort Orlando, FL

“The early bird gets a worm and the early gamer gets a seat. It has been made very clear that at Hurricon, registration before 22 Aug is not just nice, its pretty much how they get low cost events.”

Brewfest in Cape Girardeau MO is October 7-9. There is no Warhorn site yet but they usually have one.

Wow, I can not keep up. There are gaming conventions this month in Tampa, FL and next month in Jacksonville, FL. What I know so far is that it is too late to pre-register for the con in Tampa called Metrocon 2011 for June 17-19 at the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, FL. they plan to have both LFR and Pathfinder. In fact, they need judges.

This is what I here they are offering:

LFR offers the prequel adventure PREQ3-1 Shrouded Visions, some new events for May and everything through level 17 play!

Pathfinder sports new adventure modules and a triple play Pathfinder adventure, The Godsmouth Heresy. This is 12 hours of play all in one day for 1st level characters only, who leave the adventure level 2.

In July, there is a convention called Ancient City Con 5 being held on July 9-10, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront Hotel in downtown Jacksonville, FL. there website is here: http://www.ancientcitycon.com/
The note I got for this con says:
Florida Gaming Org and Ancient City have come to an agreement to run RPG games including LFR, Pathfinder and LSJ at Ancient City CON this summer. From what I understand, LSJ is Legends of the Shining Jewel which appears to be a local “Florida” RPGA style organized game play game using Pathfinder rules. If you like Pathfinder RPG or the old 3.5 Dungeons and Dragons, I think you will enjoy LSJ game play also.

Legends of the Shining Jewel is an independent D20 campaign
(Pathfinder RPG Compatible). Players create new characters and can advance them by playing in official LSJ tournaments offered at conventions around the country and the world.

Going to Megacon 2011

We bought our tickets for Megacon taking place here in Orlando March 25th – 27th, 2011 at the Orange County Convention Center, in Hall D. Hey it is our first big con here in Florida since we moved. I plan to play more pathfinder and Gail plans to track down comic artists and her favorite Scifi and fantasy actors and authors.

We bought our tickets from a local game shop, Coliseum of Comics (no financial interest). The shop offered a raffle to meet Stan Lee if you bought a t-shirt for 8 bucks so, well, we bought some Ts.

We also got a game to play at the con. I like to try fast play games and from the description the Bomb sounds like a fast game, plus it it portable.

Yeah we are a nerd family but hey we have fun. I hope to get my Pathfinder character up to 3rd level and meet more local gamers. At New Years the people at my table said Megacon had a lot more local player attendance.

Going to my first New Years Con

Just signed up to attend New Year’s Con 2011, the con will be a weekend of gaming over New Years here in Orlando, FL. I have seen notices for this con over the years but could never attend. I hope to try out Pathfinder Society play this time and potentially run some PFS game for folks. This will be my first con in central Florida, back in the day, I played up in Tallahassee with the old RPGA for Living Greyhawk and I had fun so I hope this turns out to be just as fun.

Now I just have to make a character…

The con is December 31, 2010 – January 2, 2011 in Orlando (Winter Park) Florida.
