End of the Year Thank You from Paizo

I just received an end of the year email thank you from Paizo for buying some products from them. Very cool. I will use the coupon. I did find it funny while reading the fine print at the bottom of the email, that I could not buy Gus and Duncan’s Comprehensive Guide to Star Wars Collectibles. I am no Star Wars fanatic though I have been caught saying “stay on target” from time to time to my wife in the grocery store. Apparently, the book is the holy grail of Star Wars collectable items and the trivia behind them. Heh, made me chuckle. Thanks Paizo. Happy New Year Everyone.

New Game Stuff Coming Out

I keep getting emails about new stuff in the gaming world. If any of this sounds interesting, then go to your local game store and get some. Or, buy from Amazon (biased).

Actually, It is way cool to go to the local game store. Ours knows me by name and says hello every time I stop in (Armored Gopher Games). The owner also goes over the good, the bad and the ugly of any product I am looking for. Very helpful when deciding between too similar priced things, especially when you are on a budget. Buying from your home town game store also helps the local economy and you get your stuff right away, if it is in stock. If it is not stock, they will order it and call you when it comes in. How cool is that? No worries about packages being stolen from your front door or waiting in those horribly long slow lines at the post office.

I finally broke down and bought the Adventurers Vault for 4e the other day. It took 20 minutes from the house to the store and back, it did cost more than Amazon, but I needed the book fast and impulse buying just is not the same on website stores as it is in the brick and mortar ones.

I have been reading the core books and telling players that don’t like the character sheet format, because half the stuff you need for combat is on the back of the character sheet, to make index cards that reference PCs “at will” “daily” and “encounter” and “whatever else” powers and have them ready to go when you play. I started looking at the format of the game, and started thinking, gee this game is almost like Magic the Gathering. Anyway I was reading EnWorld today and it appears WotC will be selling card decks with all the core material so now my players can buy cards already written out in cool format. The article highlights WotC future releases and yes gnomes are a PC race again… Not in Alidor though, unless a player comes up with a real good story for their gnome wanting adventure.
