Made a Graphic for Word of the Week

Just made a quick graphic inspired by the movie Sucker Punch. It’s for my wife so she can write her words and get ‘em done without messing around for a graphic. I am going to try to do more original graphics instead of relying on Google searches for images.

I just have to change my wife’s gravitar now. We haven’t see Sucker Punch yet but it looks to be a cool flick; the trailers looked cool.

The wife kinda urged me to try Google Adsense on Alidor, since it is my primary job to make the wife happy, I obliged. I will try to tweak it to be well balanced and I apologize if it it appears distracting. Once I figure out exactly the right mix and approach to advertising the site will settle down. Again sorry for any distractions.

Just Completed Updates to My Theme

I found a real cool theme:
Indy Premium 1.0 by Techblissonline Dot Com
Indy Premium is a professional and clean looking mag theme. Developed by Techblissonline.Com WP labs.

But it broke when all the new versions of browsers came out so I switched to a pay fer theme from:

Lifestyle 4.0 by StudioPress
Lifestyle is a 3-column Widget-ready theme created for WordPress.

I am liking Studiopress because I have a little better support for theme design.

I would like to build in more of the options from the Indy Premium theme in the future.

Garr! IE 8 breaks my template

OK there were some issues with my template that I should of fixed, but kept putting off. Well I decided to switch back to my old basic template today until I can tweak the one I want to use so IE 8 likes it again.

I am on a new web host!

My old host lost two months of my posts back to 9/22/2008. Luckily I had back-ups. I am on Bluehost now. Note if your host is miserable don’t blog about it, because they don’t seem to want to help you out so much, if they accidentally mess up your web sight, and as luck would have it, the very post you wrote to flame their horrible service ends up being the first thing the tech support people see when they troubleshoot your website, even though it was two months old. Talk about making things a little awkward.

AnHosting/Midphase is a great hosting company, and they did do their best to help me out. I think if they had kept better notes on their service tickets, I would probably still be with them. Granted I started with their service in July-08, and suspiciously after after 60 days, I started having problems, eventually, after about 18 days, someone senior at support stepped in on September 22nd, and made everything good again. Perfect actually (thanks whoever that was). That all changed on November 12th, 2008, when they decided to migrate my website to a new better server… And royally screwed me. 48 hours later I moved to a new host. I suggest if your web host gives you advanced notice that they are moving you to a new server, that you make back-ups of your database and you website to your home computer a day before they move you so you don’t have to suffer as I did this last week. Remember, it is your data after all… Thanks Jeffery U. for reminding me of that very important point.
